As Rail Yard Operator with Tidewater Logistics ( https://www.tidewater-logistics.com/ ) you’ll be responsible for Safety, Quality, and Operations related to moving rail cars from the yard to buildings.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Identifying and managing tracks in the rail yard
  

• Manually operating switches to align rail cars to the correct track
  

• Ensuring the correct number of rail cars fit on each track
  

• Acting as a conductor, giving clear and accurate directions to the Engineer
  

• Operating a Locomotive safely and efficiently
  

• Maintaining a strong focus on safety and adhering to all company safety policies
  

• Willing to work weekends and holidays when required
  

• Reporting safety hazards and taking appropriate remedial action
  

REQUIREMENTS:

Diploma/GED & experience working in a rail yard including:

• Ability to operate a Locomotive or Rail King, or knowledge of rail operations
  

• Ability to move, count, and manage rail cars
  

• Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs and performing hands-on mechanical tasks
  

• Mechanically inclined with the ability to make minor equipment adjustments
  

• Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  

• Valid Driver’s License
  

• Experience with Class 1 or Short Line railroads
  

• Previous experience operating a Locomotive or Rail King
  

• Familiarity with rail car operations and equipment
  

• Ability to follow instructions from the Rail Yard Lead and work collaboratively with the team
  

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and internet research skills
